President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged business to invest in the restoration of the infrastructure of Donbas. He stated this during the forum "Dialogue Between State Authorities and Business" on June 20 in Kyiv.
"We will do everything in our power to stop the war, so that this factor creates the minimum negative effect on business climate in Ukraine," the Head of State said.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine needed a strong economy to counter external threats.
According to the experts' estimates, over 300 billion UAH are needed to restore Donbas.
"This will be a major reintegration project. And we will not wait for the end of the war. We have already started this work. In the territories of Donbas controlled by Ukraine, we must clearly demonstrate the advantages of living in a decent, free and independent Ukraine to the people, who are forced to stay in the temporarily occupied territories," the President emphasized.
The Head of State stressed the need to create high-quality conditions at the crossing points on the delimitation line, repair old roads and build new ones, develop the economy and the social sphere.
The President reminded that he had recently visited Germany and France. The large business there is ready to assist Ukraine in implementing these projects.
"But this is our country, and we owe it. It is my opinion. I urge you not to stand aside and to join the funding of this project - in the role of both investors and philanthropists,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.
The Head of State also urged large business to help solve social problems. In particular, he said that the issue of providing apartments for the families of 24 captive Ukrainian sailors was being resolved in cooperation with Victor Pinchuk. In the future, Victor Pinchuk will deal with the issues of social assistance to the entire military personnel. In addition, the funds of large business will be invested in medicine and reconstruction of the Donbas infrastructure. It is about agreements with Rinat Akhmetov, in the framework of which 200 ambulances were already purchased for Ukrainian hospitals.
“Ihor Kolomoyskyi will invest huge money in the Donbas infrastructure,” the President added.
In addition, he emphasized that he would not provide any preferences to the large business representatives and would not allow any monopolies.
