On the sidelines of the European Political Community Summit in Copenhagen, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Federal Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz.
The Head of State thanked the Federal Republic of Germany for its consistent support for Ukraine and provided the Chancellor with a brief overview of the key needs. The leaders discussed strengthening Ukraine’s air defense, including the delivery of Patriot systems and compatible missiles.
They also addressed the implementation of the PURL initiative. The Head of State thanked Germany for financing the third package, totaling USD 500 million.
Furthermore, Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Friedrich Merz discussed the potential use of frozen Russian assets for Ukraine’s defense and reconstruction, as well as new financial instruments to support our state.
A particular focus was placed on further development of security guarantees and defining the concrete contributions of each country within the Coalition of the Willing.
Additionally, the leaders coordinated their next contacts in preparation for intergovernmental consultations.
