Volodymyr Zelenskyy Met With the Heads of American Think Tanks

In Washington, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the heads of American think tanks.

The meeting was attended by John Walters, President and CEO of the Hudson Institute; Luke Coffey, Senior Fellow at the Hudson Institute; Peter Rough, Senior Fellow and Director of the Center on Europe and Eurasia at the Hudson Institute; Daniel Kochis, Senior Fellow at the Center on Europe and Eurasia at the Hudson Institute; Robert Wilkie, Co-Chair of the Center for American Security at the America First Policy Institute; Anna Hardage, Senior Fellow at the America First Policy Institute; Robert Doar, President of the American Enterprise Institute; Frederick Kagan, Senior Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute; Evelyn Farkas, Executive Director of the McCain Institute at Arizona State University; Peter Mattis, President of the Jamestown Foundation; Stephen Nix, Regional Director for Eurasia at the International Republican Institute; Clifford May, Founder and President of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies; Alina Polyakova, President and CEO of the Center for European Policy Analysis; Ambassador Kurt Volker, Distinguished Fellow at the Center for European Policy Analysis; Ambassador Michael Froman, President of the Council on Foreign Relations; Ambassador Stephen Sestanovich, Senior Fellow for Russian and Eurasian Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations; Seth Jones, President of the Defense and Security Department at the Center for Strategic and International Studies; Andrew Weiss, Vice President for Studies at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace; Kimberly Kagan, Founder and President of the Institute for the Study of War; Alexandra de Hoop Scheffer, President of the German Marshall Fund; Frederick Kempe, President and CEO of the Atlantic Council; Ambassador John Herbst, Senior Director of the Dinu Patriciu Eurasia Center at the Atlantic Council; Shelby Magid, Deputy Director of the Eurasia Center at the Atlantic Council; Debra Cagan, Senior Advisor of the Eurasia Center at the Atlantic Council.

During the meeting, the participants had a detailed discussion of the battlefield situation, the technological aspects of the war, and the importance of continuing sanctions pressure on Russia to limit its ability to finance its war machine and force it to the negotiating table. Particular focus was placed on sanctions against the shadow fleet.

The parties also discussed further development of Ukraine’s defense industry, including drone production, Ukrainian-American military-technical cooperation, and the dynamics of relations with the United States.
