Fellow Ukrainians!
Briefly about today. There were important meetings – together with the team, we are preparing for new communication with envoys of the U.S. President. More details will follow tomorrow. We are doing everything to ensure that war doesn’t remain the only option for what comes next. Importantly, America shares many of our views on the situation both on the front and with the strikes. We should be active, and that is exactly how we are working – actively, with no days off.
Today, there were reports from our military on air defense. Right now, Russia’s tactic is to wear down Ukraine and Ukrainians – first and foremost, our people. Drone attacks are constant, with many jet-powered “shaheds.” Our warriors shoot down a significant share of them. There were almost 1,500 drones of all types in these four days alone – around 800 of them jet-powered.
The most difficult task is intercepting the jet-powered ones. Now, it is mainly our combat aircraft that protect against them. We are working to ensure we have the necessary interceptors. Four companies have developed the relevant interceptor drones, and one company has the most successful technology.
Right now, the Ministry of Defense, the military – everyone – must do their utmost to ensure that we have as many capabilities as possible to shoot down every type of Russian drone. I want to thank those on Ukraine’s team who are truly working 24/7 to make this happen. This fall, we need to deliver a response and bring the interception rate to well above 90%.
One more point. Today, we spoke with the Prosecutor General, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Security Service of Ukraine about the situation in the Kyiv region, in the Bucha district, following the terrible tragedy and explosions at sites where ammunition and weapons were stored. Such sites definitely should not have been there. An investigation into all the circumstances is ongoing. All the details must be established – and they will be.
I expect law enforcement agencies to provide the public with the relevant information. It is also important that the decisions of the Government and local authorities to help our people be implemented as quickly as possible. Tomorrow is an important day. There must be a corresponding report tomorrow.
