On the Occasion of the 975th Anniversary of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, the President Took Part in the Opening of an Exhibition Dedicated to the History of the Lavra and Met with the UNESCO Director-General

On the occasion of the 975th anniversary of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy took part in the opening of the exhibition “Spiritual Treasures of the Nation. The Sacristy of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra,” where he also met with UNESCO Director-General Khaled El-Enany, who visited Ukraine for the first time in this position.

The event was attended by Secretary-General of UN Tourism Shaikha Nasser Al Nuwais, Swiss Federal Council Delegate for Ukraine Jacques Gerber, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Vahan Kostanyan, and Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, His Beatitude Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine Epiphanius.

The exhibition “Spiritual Treasures of the Nation. The Sacristy of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra” is dedicated to the history of the Lavra. It features liturgical objects, books, icons, portraits of the archimandrites who established the sacristy, archival documents, and biographies of patrons.

The Head of State viewed the exhibits and made the first entry in the Book of Custodians and Ktetors of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, which will be kept in the Dormition Cathedral. Entries in the Book were also made by the UNESCO Director-General, the Secretary-General of UN Tourism, the Swiss Federal Council Delegate for Ukraine, and the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
