Address by the President of Ukraine to Representatives of the Ukrainian-German Business Forum

Thank you very much!

I will keep the official remarks brief. I am very glad that today we have both genuine dialogue and a concrete result. A little later about the result. Importantly, thank you, Friedrich, and thank you to your team. Thank you for being here today with your team at such a moment – a very difficult moment for Ukraine, during the war and amid massive attacks. I am very glad that Katherina is also here with you – Madam Minister – along with the entire team. And it is very important that you made the decision and invited representatives of German business to Ukraine for dialogue with Ukrainian business and for the result.

First, the security package – once again, I am grateful. It is a good package, more than a billion to strengthen our Armed Forces and our security. There is also an energy package, which is very important and, unfortunately, very relevant because of Russia, because of the war – especially today. A strong package. I am grateful for this to the Government, the people of Germany, and the Chancellor.

And what is very important is that today we are reaching an important result – 15 agreements between our companies, between German and Ukrainian businesses in our industries. And this is very important. We have never had such a result between our countries even in peacetime, let alone such strong agreements during the war. Of course, this opens up opportunities. Opportunities mean jobs – jobs in Germany and in Ukraine, of course. And joint production is a result we have already achieved in the defense-industrial complex.

I would like to say that we have a very good result in the defense industry. And we discussed this today. We are preparing a strong Drone Deal. We are preparing many different agreements between our countries.

Today, there are massive attacks. We understand that security is the number one issue. Interceptors, munitions for F-16s, air defense systems – all of this is available. We are grateful that we can both receive this as assistance from Germany and purchase it from German businesses. And today, this is open to Ukraine and to Ukraine’s security. At the same time, we are sharing our experience, our technologies, and our production capabilities with German business representatives. And I think this is really great. Strong agreements.

Today, we are protecting our energy sector, which is under constant attack by the Russian Federation. It is very important that we have cooperation with German businesses in the energy sector. And, of course, it is very important that today we are counting on – and are already discussing and agreeing on – the presence of German businesses in the recovery and reconstruction of our country after this war ends, and it will end. We very much want this to happen in cooperation with Ukrainian businesses. These are probably the main messages – some of the main messages – that I wanted to convey today to you, to our society, and to our businesses.

And once again, Friedrich, I want to thank you for your support. I thank German business – strong business that is not afraid of Russia’s air raid alerts and shows everyone that together we are much stronger. Together in the European Union, we will be even stronger. In the European Union and in a peaceful Ukraine. Thank you very much.

Glory to Ukraine!
