This March, we marked the fourth anniversary of one of our most important state institutions – the one that brings people back to Ukraine from captivity and gives all of us hope of seeing our loved ones at home. Four years of work by the Coordination Headquarters have already resulted in the return of 8,669 of our people. Military personnel and civilians. Some of them have been held captive since the hybrid war – for ten years or longer. And that is always good news on any day, any week or month – when Ukrainians come back home, and when we see that life has been saved.
I thank everyone who makes this possible. Every one of our warriors and every unit that takes occupiers prisoner, giving our people the chance to return. I thank all those who carry out extremely complex negotiations so that exchanges can happen. I thank those who meet and welcome the released captives – and I am grateful for every Ukrainian flag along the way from the border, which our returning men and women see.
I thank those who help people adapt after captivity – those who heal body and soul. Those who help restore justice – so that everyone who abuses our people feels that every crime they commit will meet our response. It is important that every part of this system remains strong and effective.
I thank our intelligence – first and foremost, the military branch of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. I thank the Security Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. The Ombudsman. The team of the Office. All our foreign partners who assist through mediation. All journalists, civic leaders, human rights defenders, and just caring Ukrainians who keep attention on our prisoners of war and on matters of justice.
And of course, I want to thank every family of Ukrainian warriors, all our people waiting for their loved ones and helping those around them who need attention get through this difficult time. Ukraine is strong only because it can unite to achieve the necessary strength. We continue to work in unity. Thank you! I thank each of you.
