President Volodymyr Zelenskyy calls the accusations made by Alexander Lukashenko of training militants on the territory of Ukraine, which are then allegedly sent to Belarus, unfounded. Such statements are aimed at the distraction from the domestic political situation in this country, Press Secretary of the President Serhiy Nykyforov informed during the visit to the Mykolaiv region.
"The President emphasizes that Ukraine is fighting militants, not training them, as Alexander Lukashenko said. Volodymyr Zelenskyy calls Alexander Lukashenko's statements unfounded," he said.
The President's Press Secretary noted that the efforts of the Ukrainian authorities are aimed at strengthening security in the country and the return of the temporarily occupied territories of Donbas and Crimea.
According to Serhiy Nykyforov, Alexander Lukashenko's unfounded statements are aimed at diverting attention from the ongoing dramatic events that began in Belarus last year.
"The crisis that broke out after the presidential elections can only be resolved in a democratic way. But Alexander Lukashenko lacked the courage to choose it," the Press Secretary of the President of Ukraine noted.
According to him, Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasizes that Ukraine remains a faithful friend of the Belarusian people, but does not interfere in the political processes of other states.
"We hope that there will be no unfriendly steps towards Ukraine by Alexander Lukashenko. Otherwise, they will get an immediate and powerful response from both our state and the international community," Serhiy Nykyforov said.
