President establishes International Advisory Council

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed the Decree on the Establishment of the International Advisory Council.

The Council was established as consultative-advisory body under the President, which should facilitate the implementation of reforms in Ukraine on the basis of the best international experience.

The Ukrainian President is the Chairman of the Council. Head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine Borys Lozhkin is the Deputy Chairman. A lot of prominent international figures were invited to join the Council, particularly Carl Bildt, Tony Blair, Elmar Brok, Mikuláš Dzurinda, Tony Abbott, Aleksander Kwaśniewski, Bernard-Henri Lévy, Anders Åslund, Anders Fogh Rasmussen and Štefan Füle.

The main objectives of the Council are the discussion of the problems of state development and the most important aspects of foreign relations; elaboration of relevant recommendations; discussion of the process of implementation of reforms in Ukraine; elaboration of proposals and recommendations on directions and mechanisms of implementation of reforms in Ukraine based on the best international practices; submitting proposals for consideration by the National Council of Reforms and other advisory bodies established by the President of Ukraine.

The Decree also eliminates the International Advisory Council of Reforms and abolishes Decrees of the President № 78 and № 268.

The document takes effect from the date of publication.
