Recovery efforts are ongoing following the Russian strike on Ukraine – a massive attack in which the Russians are not even trying to conceal their true intentions. The overwhelming majority of targets were civilian objects and ordinary infrastructure.

On Territorial Defense Day, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the warriors serving in the ranks of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and presented them with state awards.

First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska took part in the 2025 Global Teacher Prize Ukraine award ceremony, held annually to mark Education Workers’ Day.

Today, Russia carried out brutal strikes on Shostka in the Sumy region, targeting the railway station and energy infrastructure. Russian attacks also hit other districts of the Sumy and Chernihiv regions. The electricity situation remains difficult after strikes in the Donetsk region.

These decrees continue Ukraine’s comprehensive policy aimed at weakening Russia’s military-economic machine and preventing Russian influence over the strategic sectors of the Ukrainian state.

Today, practically the entire day, the Russians have been carrying out brutal strikes on the city of Shostka in the Sumy region – targeting the railway station, energy facilities, and civilian infrastructure. This is a typical Russian terror. Dozens of drones. One of the hits was virtually on a train – an ordinary train, with no military purpose whatsoever.

I held a Staff meeting. Energy sector: reports were delivered on protecting our facilities and restoring them. Today, there was another Russian strike on our gas infrastructure – just ahead of the heating season, the Russians are looking for ways to inflict more harm on our people.

Ahead of Education Workers’ Day, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with teachers, lecturers, students, and pupils; he also presented state awards to educators.

The leaders discussed the importance of achieving peace, respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, and the development of bilateral relations.

The parties discussed in detail the priorities of Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2026. President Zelenskyy emphasized that during this period it is important to achieve substantial progress in the enlargement of the European Union.
