President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy took part in the sixth meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, co-chaired by President of France Emmanuel Macron, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Keir Starmer, and Federal Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz, with U.S. Vice President JD Vance and U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg also in attendance.
Other participants included: President of Finland Alexander Stubb, President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda, President of Romania Nicușor Dan, Chancellor of Austria Christian Stocker, Prime Minister of Bulgaria Rossen Jeliazkov, Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carney, Prime Minister of Croatia Andrej Plenković, Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Petr Fiala, Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen, Prime Minister of Estonia Kristen Michal, Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Prime Minister of Iceland Kristrún Frostadóttir, Taoiseach of Ireland Micheál Martin, President of the Council of Ministers of Italy Giorgia Meloni, Prime Minister of Japan Shigeru Ishiba, Prime Minister of Latvia Evika Siliņa, Prime Minister of Luxembourg Luc Frieden, Prime Minister of the Netherlands Dick Schoof, Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk, Prime Minister of Portugal Luís Montenegro, Prime Minister of Spain Pedro Sánchez, Prime Minister of Sweden Ulf Kristersson, Vice President of Türkiye Cevdet Yılmaz, President of the European Council António Costa, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
The participants supported the efforts of U.S. President Donald Trump to end the war, stop the killings, and achieve a just and lasting peace.
The leaders clearly articulated a shared position: the path to peace cannot be determined without Ukraine. Until Russia agrees to a ceasefire, partners will continue active diplomatic efforts, support for Ukraine, and pressure on Russia.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy called for financing Ukrainian drone production to enhance the country’s defense capabilities and for joining NATO’s new PURL instrument for the procurement of U.S. weapons. This initiative has already secured over one billion dollars from the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. During today’s meeting, other partners also expressed their readiness to join.
The participants also agreed that negotiations can only yield results if they are held under a ceasefire. The leaders decided that if Russia does not agree to this step during the meeting in Alaska, sanctions against Russia’s war economy will be strengthened.
In addition, the participants emphasized that international borders cannot be changed by force and that Ukraine, together with other European countries, must have reliable security guarantees. The Coalition of the Willing affirmed its readiness to play an active role in providing them, including through the deployment of a reassurance force from individual countries.
The leaders stressed that there can be no restrictions on Ukraine’s defense cooperation with other countries, nor can Russia have a veto over Ukraine’s accession to the EU and NATO.
The meeting participants coordinated the next steps and agreed to continue working in close contact between Ukraine, all of Europe, and the United States.
