The Head of State thanked the President of the European Council for congratulating Ukraine on the 35th anniversary of the restoration of its independence and for coming to Kyiv on this important day.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and First Lady Olena Zelenska took part in events marking the 35th anniversary of the restoration of Ukraine’s independence, held on Sophia Square in Kyiv.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy took part in a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, which brought together representatives of more than 30 countries, both in person and online. This was the 16th meeting of the Coalition since its first gathering in February 2025.

The Head of State outlined in detail the challenges that require urgent action – financing the army and addressing the budget deficit. The President emphasized that it is important that Luxembourg is ready to help find solutions both bilaterally and multilaterally within the European Union.

“I would like to thank those leaders and those nations who, without hesitation, supported our country and our people, our independence, and who came to Ukraine today to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence with us,” the Head of State said.

In Kyiv, on the occasion of Ukraine’s Independence Day, the first-ever parade of aerial, ground, and naval drones in the country took place, featuring nearly 100 pieces of Ukrainian weaponry. And this is only part of what our country can already be proud of.

On the occasion of Independence Day, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and First Lady Olena Zelenska took part in a prayer for Ukraine held at St. Sophia Cathedral.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Olena Zelenska walked along the memorial alley dedicated to fallen warriors and observed a minute of silence in honor of Ukraine’s fallen defenders.

These are the Agreement on Defence and Security Cooperation under the Drone Deal format and the Joint Declaration on a Strategic Partnership (the Ellisiv Accord). The document is named after the daughter of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, who married King Harald Hardrada and became Queen of Norway.

In Kyiv, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held six bilateral meetings with the heads of state and government of countries participating in the Ukraine–Nordic-Baltic Eight (NB8) Summit: the Presidents of Lithuania and Finland and the Prime Ministers of Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, and Norway.
