In Warsaw, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk.
The Head of State expressed gratitude to Poland for its substantial support of Ukraine since the very beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
“We counted and continue to count on your support, and we are grateful for our unity,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.
The leaders highlighted the European Council’s decision to provide Ukraine with financial support from the European Union totaling €90 billion for 2026–2027.
“You have strengthened Ukraine, our soldiers, and civilians, by the way. And I think that Europe showed leadership, and this is a very important, tough, and strong position. Thank you for supporting us, I mean that Poland supported us, and we heard your voice and your messages without any kind of, you understand, balancing between right or not right decisions. So thank you so much,” the President stated.
Donald Tusk also stressed that Ukraine’s fight for its independence is a shared struggle for all of Europe.
“It is the aggressor who has to pay everything for all the damages and losses, and this is why we immobilize also, as you know, the Russian assets for good. And I am absolutely sure that now your position vis-à-vis Russia is much better,” said the Polish Prime Minister.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy briefed the Prime Minister on the battlefield situation. The discussion also focused on defense assistance to Ukraine, including strengthening Ukraine’s combat aviation and defense projects under the SAFE instrument, including joint production of drones.
The President and the Prime Minister also discussed diplomatic contacts with the U.S. side aimed at achieving a dignified peace and Europe’s role in this process.
Other topics included economic cooperation and joint infrastructure projects that could be implemented as part of Ukraine’s recovery.
