Olena Zelenska Visited the Kharkiv Regional Clinical Hospital and Reviewed the Reconstruction of a Kindergarten

First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska visited the Regional Clinical Hospital in the Kharkiv region. The President’s wife thanked the medical staff for their work and announced that, with the support of partners, the Olena Zelenska Foundation will provide the hospital with equipment, including a CT scanner, a stationary X-ray system, a C-arm for high-precision surgery, a patient monitoring system, and a central monitoring station. This will enable round-the-clock monitoring of patients’ vital indicators and rapid response to critical changes in their condition.

In addition, equipment will be delivered to the Prosthetics and Rehabilitation Center and the Regional Children’s Hospital. The Foundation will also establish a School of Superheroes at this medical facility.

“The Foundation is setting up such schools across the country so that young patients do not fall behind in their studies and can also take a break from treatment and return to a more normal rhythm of life. Last year, we funded six such spaces; this year, another six. I am glad that among the six schools planned for next year, there will be one in Kharkiv,” the First Lady said.

Olena Zelenska also reviewed the progress of the reconstruction of a kindergarten in one of the settlements in the Kharkiv region. Its shelter will house classrooms, a medical unit, restrooms, and showers.

“Today, while visiting the construction site, I can already see that despite being underground out of necessity due to Russia’s attack, it will be a bright, optimistic, and welcoming place. This is exactly what true protection of childhood should look like,” the President’s wife noted.

In addition, the First Lady visited one of the region’s lyceums that already has a fully equipped shelter. The lyceum operates in two shifts and educates 466 children. It also offers five inclusive classes and clubs in chess, handicrafts, visual arts, and vocal performance.

“The Kharkiv region is Ukraine’s leader in building underground educational facilities. Currently, 43 underground schools are under construction here, funded as part of the comprehensive Offline School policy. Protective structures preserve not only lives but also a normal rhythm of life for children and make it possible to return to in-person learning,” Olena Zelenska concluded.
