Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Ihor Zhovkva, held a briefing for the ambassadors of the Nordic and Baltic states: Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, and Sweden.
The participants discussed the outcomes of the third meeting between the Ukrainian and Russian delegations in Istanbul. Ihor Zhovkva noted that Ukraine had once again shown its commitment to constructive dialogue and offered the Russian side a meeting at the level of leaders in order to bring the war to an end as soon as possible with a just and lasting peace.
The briefing also focused in detail on Ukraine’s European integration. The diplomats discussed the efforts needed to open negotiation clusters for Ukraine’s accession to the EU in the near future. Our country is counting on the active support of the Nordic and Baltic states, in particular Denmark, which currently holds the Presidency of the EU Council. Representatives of these countries assured that they would continue doing everything possible to ensure progress in the negotiation process.
Ihor Zhovkva also noted that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has prepared a bill that guarantees the independence of anti-corruption agencies and strengthens the system of law and order.
