In Kyiv, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Édouard Philippe, Mayor of the French city of Le Havre and leader of the Horizons political party.
The Head of State noted that this visit is an important demonstration of solidarity with Ukraine, especially against the backdrop of Russia’s recent massive attacks on our country.
“We are especially grateful to our closest friends, and France is one of them. We have excellent relations with your President and your people. From the very beginning of this war, the French people have shown that they are on the right side of history,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
Édouard Philippe noted the morale and resilience of the Ukrainian people in the fight for freedom and independence.
“We are glad to help Ukrainian displaced persons and support the Ukrainian people during this war. And we will continue to do so,” the Mayor of Le Havre noted.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked Édouard Philippe for his constant attention to Ukraine’s security situation and European future. The President noted France’s consistent support for Ukraine’s membership in the European Union and emphasized that our country counts on the opening of all negotiating clusters in the very near future. The Mayor of Le Havre stressed that Ukraine deserves membership in the European Union.
They also discussed energy assistance and cooperation in the defense sector. Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that strengthening Ukraine’s air defense and creating Europe’s own anti-ballistic capabilities are priorities.
