President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy received Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov. This was the Minister’s first visit to Ukraine since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
The Head of State thanked Azerbaijan and President Ilham Aliyev personally for supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, providing energy and humanitarian assistance, and maintaining a constructive dialogue.
“We are very grateful that, during these difficult days for our country and our people, you found an opportunity to come and support us,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted.
The President informed the Minister about Russia’s continued strikes against Ukraine, the situation in the Black Sea, and Russia’s blockade of grain corridors, which threatens global food security.
They also discussed Ukraine’s responses to Russian attacks and public sentiment in Russia.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke about high-level diplomatic contacts, including meetings in Washington, and current developments in the diplomatic process more broadly.
Jeyhun Bayramov expressed solidarity with the Ukrainian people and shared his impressions of Irpin, where he visited a school, a hospital, and a rehabilitation center supported by Azerbaijan. The Minister reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s commitment to continuing humanitarian assistance and developing bilateral relations.
“You can fully rely on us and on our political support. And, as you know very well, Mr. President, we are quite vocal and forthright when it comes to our full solidarity, Ukraine’s territorial integrity, and the inviolability of Ukraine’s internationally recognized borders,” he said.
The parties also discussed defense cooperation, including the Drone Deal, as well as economic cooperation in energy, the oil and gas sector, and agriculture.
In addition, they reviewed the implementation of the agreements reached by the presidents of the two countries during Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to Azerbaijan.
