President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Speaker of the Lithuanian Seimas Juozas Olekas, who is visiting our country for the third time in this position.
The Head of State thanked the Lithuanian people for their unwavering, strong, and consistent support for Ukraine.
“We are very glad to have such relations with your country and to have friends like Lithuania. First of all, I would like to thank President Nausėda, Gitanas, my great friend. We are grateful that you are here, for this signal of support,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted.
The parties discussed in detail Ukraine’s European integration and the priorities of Lithuania’s presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of 2027.
“We need to open two more clusters. We hope this will be done by the end of this year – all six clusters will be open in total – and we will move on to dialogue with the member states and work on additional reforms to close chapter after chapter,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.
Juozas Olekas noted that Lithuania hopes the start of its EU presidency on January 1, 2027, will provide a window of opportunity for Ukraine to move forward.
The President also briefed the Speaker of the Seimas on the meetings in Oslo and the overall situation in the negotiation process. Ukraine expects the trilateral meeting of the American, Ukrainian, and Russian teams to take place as early as the beginning of November. The Head of State emphasized that Ukraine is always ready to meet and work swiftly on steps that can genuinely help bring peace.
In addition, they discussed the security situation and communication with partners in Europe.
