President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko emphasizes that Ukrainian servicemen cannot be left helpless and inactive in conditions of constant fire by the forces of the Russian aggressor in Donbas. The Head of State told that at NSC Olimpiyskyi answering the journalists' question whether the quick recipe from presidential candidate Volodymyr Zelensky “to stop shooting” will help end the war in Donbas.
The Head of State remarked that he had initiated the ceasefire regime 19 times already".
"For today, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are in such a regime. But there are absolutely clear directives for servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine when they are attacked, including with the use of weapons prohibited by the Minsk agreements," the President said.
The Head of State reminded that recently Ukraine had lost two of its heroes during the mortar shelling. Among them was a well-known Kharkiv volunteer, machine-gunner Yana Chervona with a code name the "Witch".
"In these circumstances, our servicemen have the right to open fire in response. And leaving our soldiers unarmed, with their hands bound by such orders ("stop shooting" - ed.) is completely incompetent, unprofessional and irresponsible," Petro Poroshenko said.
