President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with His Beatitude Georgios, Archbishop of Nova Justiniana and All Cyprus, Primate of the Church of Cyprus.
The Head of State thanked His Beatitude and the Church of Cyprus for recognizing the autocephaly of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy informed His Beatitude about Ukraine’s efforts, together with partner countries, to achieve a dignified peace – first and foremost about the constructive talks between the Ukrainian and American negotiating teams.
The President also emphasized the importance for Ukraine and Ukrainians of moral and humanitarian support from the Church of Cyprus, in particular regarding the restoration of religious sites and the return of Ukrainian children abducted by Russia.
The President invited His Beatitude to pay a visit to Ukraine, noting that such a visit would be important for Ukrainians and for the morale of our people.
The Archbishop thanked the President for the invitation and confirmed his readiness to visit Ukraine. He also noted separately that the visit of the Ukrainian President is of exceptional significance for the Church of Cyprus.
