President of Ukraine and Prime Minister of New Zealand Discuss Strengthening Sanctions Against Russia

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Prime Minister of New Zealand Christopher Luxon.

The Head of State praised New Zealand’s solidarity with the Ukrainian people since the very beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, as well as its humanitarian and military assistance, and the new aid package.

“We may be far from Ukraine, but New Zealand stands with you because you are fighting for the values we believe in,” said Christopher Luxon.

The President and the Prime Minister discussed the prospects of investing in the production of military equipment in Ukraine and launching an initiative to help counter Iranian Shahed drones used by Russia in its massive attacks on Ukrainian cities. The initiative includes the production of interceptors and electronic warfare systems.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Christopher Luxon also discussed the threat posed by Russia’s cooperation with Iran and North Korea not only to Europe but also to the Indo-Pacific region.

The leaders share the view that only strong, coordinated action and tough sanctions against all sectors of the economy enabling Russia to finance its war machine can stop Russian aggression.

The President invited the Prime Minister of New Zealand to visit Ukraine.
