On the Day of Remembrance of the Heroes of Kruty, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy paid tribute to the defenders who held back the Bolshevik advance on Kyiv on January 29, 1918.

The Head of State laid flowers at the memorial cross for the Heroes of Kruty at Askold’s Grave in Kyiv.
Near St. Nicholas Church, the President spoke with the relatives of fallen defenders buried at Askold’s Grave: Liliya Averyanova (mother of Andrii Pilshchykov), Maryna Sochenko (mother of Liubomyr Sochenko), and Maryna, Lyudmyla, and Viktor Petrychenko (sister and parents of Pavlo Petrychenko).
Volodymyr Zelenskyy honored the memory of Mark Paslavskyi, who fell near Ilovaisk in August 2014; Oleksandr Klitynskyi, a participant of the Revolution of Dignity who died in the House of Trade Unions fire in February 2014; Dmytro Kotsiubailo (callsign Da Vinci), Hero of Ukraine and commander of the assault battalion Da Vinci Wolves, killed near Bakhmut in March 2023; Andrii Pilshchykov (callsign Juice), Hero of Ukraine and fighter pilot, who fell during a combat mission in August 2023; Pavlo Petrychenko, civil activist and warrior of the 59th Separate Assault Brigade named after Yakiv Handziuk, killed in April 2024 during a combat mission in Donetsk region; Liubomyr Sochenko, a participant of the Revolution of Dignity and UAV operator, who fell last September in the Zaporizhzhia direction.
