President Submitted a Draft Law on the Ukrainian National Pantheon to the Verkhovna Rada

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a draft law on the Ukrainian National Pantheon. The Head of State announced this during his address on Constitution Day at the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra.

“The names of all the heroes who, across different centuries and eras, fought for Ukraine and inspired Ukraine will be brought together and forever inscribed in our history – with a capital letter, with great respect and attention from the state, our state – Ukraine, which respects itself, values its people, and defends what is its own – its own, and this is very important, its own right to be Ukrainian,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.

The President noted that no one, ever, will dictate how Ukraine should live, how we should speak, whom we should love, whom we should be grateful to, or which heroes we should honor.

The Ukrainian National Pantheon will be a nationwide place of remembrance where the most outstanding Ukrainians will be honored – those who made historic contributions to gaining and restoring independence, to state-building and the development of the state, to the defense of its sovereignty and territorial integrity, to the formation of the Ukrainian nation, the military, culture, art, science, and sports, to the establishment of the literary language, and to the development of civil society and religion.
