President of Ukraine

Speeches

Today, there was a very important statement from Pope Leo XIV, expressing the Vatican’s willingness to play a mediatory role. The Vatican can help diplomacy. There is support for a direct meeting from Global South leaders – and that voice is being heard. We also know China’s position regarding a ceasefire and negotiations. The position of the United States and Europe is absolutely clear.

Russia talks a lot about direct negotiations, but when it comes down to it, they hide. Decisions must be made. And they must be made with the one who is truly in control of what happens next. Right now, our team is actively preparing for a visit to Türkiye.

Ukraine has always supported diplomacy. I’m ready to come to Türkiye. Unfortunately, the world still has not received a clear response from Russia to the numerous proposals for a ceasefire.

I will be in Türkiye this Thursday, May 15, and I expect Putin to come to Türkiye as well. Personally.

Key points: 30-day ceasefire backed with sanctions pressure; strengthening Ukraine's air defense and increasing international defense support for Ukraine, including the investment in Ukrainian defense production; security guarantees and contingents.

It’s really important that we stay strong and keep working together – just like we’re doing now.

If even one war goes unpunished, more wars will follow. That’s exactly why Putin started a full-scale war against Ukraine – he got away with his earlier wars like a thug who never had to answer for anything.

Ukraine is ready for a full ceasefire starting right now, from this very moment – a 30-day silence. But it must be real. No missile or drone strikes, no hundreds of assaults on the front. The Russians must respond appropriately – by supporting the ceasefire.

Today is the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism. The day we mark together with the entire world, with all those who, 80 years ago, fought for life to ensure that evil would lose, and that it would be "never again."

it is Russia that the world sees giving no answer – no response except for new strikes. This clearly and obviously shows who is the source of this war. Russia must end its aggression – and it will have to.
