President of Ukraine

Speeches

This March, we marked the fourth anniversary of one of our most important state institutions – the one that brings people back to Ukraine from captivity and gives all of us hope of seeing our loved ones at home. Four years of work by the Coordination Headquarters have already resulted in the return of 8,669 of our people. Military personnel and civilians.

We all see now that the world can be very harsh and dangerous for those who stand alone or stay aside from joint efforts to ensure real security. Today, no one knows what the future holds for Europe, or how Russia will behave in the coming years.

We already see that not only “shaheds” are being used in the Middle East and the Gulf region, but there is also growing evidence of the use of FPV drones. This is modern warfare, and everyone must be prepared for it. Ukraine has this expertise, and in exchange for our support, we need corresponding help in areas where we face greater challenges.

I am grateful to every leader, every country, every parliamentarian, and civic activist in our partner countries who will not remain silent about what is happening and who will continue helping us pressure Russia for the sake of real peace.

We will respond firmly to the fact that Belarus continues to provide its services to Russia in its terror against Ukraine. There have already been cases where special equipment was installed on the territory of Belarus to support “shahed” attacks against Kyiv and our northern regions along the Belarusian border. Unfortunately, this did strengthen Russian strikes at the time. But we took action and destroyed the relevant antennas.

Today, I received a report from our negotiating team following the second day of their meetings in America with envoys of the President of the United States. Actually, it’s two days of meetings: yesterday afternoon and evening, and today as well. It is clear that the attention of the American side at this time is primarily focused on the situation around Iran and in that region, but this war of Russia against Ukraine must also be brought to an end.

Our team is currently in the United States, and a meeting already took place today. Representing the American side were Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. It is important for all of us in the world that diplomacy continues and that we are working to end this war – Russia’s war against Ukraine. No one wants this war.

There has been a pause in the talks, and it is time to resume them. We are doing everything to ensure that the negotiations are genuinely substantive.

We need to take and implement decisions. Strong and steady support matters. Pressure on Russia matters. And it is important to stay focused – even while watching Iran – that war is ongoing on European soil.

Today, there are new defense agreements between Ukraine and Spain, as well as our private sector and our companies. There is movement in economic and infrastructure cooperation between us, as the Prime Minister mentioned regarding the railway. These are important decisions. Humanitarian and diplomatic cooperation between our countries also continues.
