At Pryluky Hospital, President Thanked Medical Professionals Helping Those Injured in Russian Strike

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband visited people injured in the Russian attack on Pryluky who are now receiving medical care at the city hospital.

In total, 17 people were hospitalized, 13 of whom remain at this medical facility. Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Ed Miliband spoke with those injured, including a five-year-old girl and a veteran who lived in the building struck by Russia. The man now has no family left and no home.

The Head of State separately thanked the doctors for their work and for helping those injured in the Russian attack.

“You are always extraordinary people, but under these circumstances, you are even more extraordinary than usual. And I wanted to thank you for how you are helping those injured in this attack, whom we have just seen. We will stand with you for as long as it takes to defeat Putin and achieve peace,” the UK Foreign Secretary added.

The medical professionals spoke about their working conditions, the process of repairing and equipping operating rooms, and showed the hospital’s shelter.

Minister of Health Viktor Liashko also reported on equipping shelters in medical facilities, particularly maternity hospitals. According to him, as of now, 62 of Ukraine’s 239 maternity hospitals have properly renovated shelters. This year, nearly 500 million hryvnias from the state budget will fund repairs at another 62 facilities. Next year, funding is planned for around 40 more shelter construction projects.

The President instructed Minister of Health Viktor Liashko and Head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration Vyacheslav Chaus, together with city authorities, to prioritize repairs to the hospital’s shelter and equip it to meet the needs of operating rooms and intensive care units, as well as to do everything necessary to build a new, modern shelter. In addition, the Head of State instructed Minister of Internal Affairs Ivan Vyhivskyi to ensure a comprehensive inspection of the condition of all shelters in Pryluky.
