Ukraine is carrying out systematic work to study the serial numbers of foreign components found in Russian weapons, namely missiles and drones, that Russia has used in its strikes against Ukraine. This was stated during a meeting with media representatives by Advisor – Commissioner of the President of Ukraine for Sanctions Policy Vladyslav Vlasiuk.
The Advisor – Commissioner of the President emphasized that Ukraine constantly provides countries with specific information about parts for Russian weapons produced by companies in those countries.
“Our idea, which our partners are coming to understand, is that this is not just another batch of components of a certain type, but components with specific serial numbers. How does this help us? We understand that these are specific, documented examples with serial numbers of parts manufactured by your companies in your countries. We say: there are serial numbers, investigate and stop this,” he stressed.
Vladyslav Vlasiuk noted that over the past six months, Russia has attacked Kyiv and the Kyiv region with 5,700 drones, 280 ballistic missiles, 340 cruise missiles, 36 Zircon hypersonic missiles, five Kinzhal missiles, and one Oreshnik mid-range ballistic missile. The Advisor – Commissioner of the President emphasized that these weapons contained 35,000 foreign components.
According to him, Ukraine has provided governments with hundreds of serial numbers of weapons parts produced by companies in their countries.
“We believe that both governments and manufacturers can and must do more. Especially those governments that are our partners and support us,” Vladyslav Vlasiuk stressed.
He emphasized that joint work by Ukraine with law enforcement agencies and manufacturers in partner countries is yielding results in limiting Russia’s ability to obtain the relevant components. In particular, components from a Dutch company disappeared from “shaheds” as a result of this work. At the same time, some manufacturers still have not stopped exporting parts for Russian weapons.
“Despite the restrictions, components manufactured in 2025 continue to enter Russia from the United States, Germany, Japan, Taiwan, Switzerland, and China. And perhaps in a few weeks we will see components from 2026,” the Advisor – Commissioner of the President noted.
Media representatives were shown onboard computers, navigation and computing systems from “shaheds,” as well as Zircon, Kinzhal, and Kh-101 missiles. Vladyslav Vlasiuk noted that the Russians do not have the capability to manufacture such parts, so they use imported components. The examination of the Oreshnik is ongoing, and Belarusian components have already been found in it.
“For our part, we are doing our utmost to prevent the Russians from obtaining the means of production. That is why there are these bans on machine tools, critical materials, chemicals, and rare earths,” he stressed.
