In Warsaw, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with President of Poland Karol Nawrocki. This was the first official visit by a foreign leader to the incumbent Polish President since his inauguration in August this year.
“I sincerely hope that this visit opens a new, even more meaningful stage in our relations – relations between Ukraine and Poland, relations not merely between neighbors, but between two European elements without which there would be no freedom in our entire part of Europe. Because there would be no security,” the Head of State said.

Karol Nawrocki emphasized that the official visit of the President of Ukraine is proof that on issues of strategic cooperation and security, Poland, Ukraine, and all countries of the region, democratic states stand together.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked Poland for its very tangible and strong support for Ukraine and Ukrainians from the very beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, as well as throughout the entire period since the restoration of Ukrainian statehood in 1991.
The Presidents discussed all matters related to the war and diplomacy. The Head of the Ukrainian State underscored the importance of Poland’s presence in all processes that shape Europe’s future. Karol Nawrocki stressed that peace for Ukraine must be lasting and binding, not one that would allow Russia to regroup its forces.
The leaders also focused on developing opportunities to strengthen joint defense. Ukraine is ready to share its experiences in advanced technologies and weapons production and to implement joint projects.
Separate attention was given to the further development of bilateral cooperation, as well as to energy security and partnership in liquefied gas, including LNG supplies from the United States, which have significant implementation potential.
In addition, Ukraine counts on the participation of Polish companies in reconstruction efforts.
The Heads of State also discussed issues of historical memory.

“Along our path, there have been both heroic and, unfortunately, tragic chapters. We respect the Polish perspective on the path of our nations; we honor your memory of what has happened, and we count on your respect for our Ukrainian memory. We are ready to work together so that the ties between Ukraine and Poland give strength and foster development for our nations,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.
According to the President of Ukraine, every victim deserves proper Christian commemoration, and every historical figure who contributes to unity and mutual understanding deserves due respect. Search and exhumation work is already underway, and this year has brought the first results.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also noted that representatives of the national memory institutes of both countries communicated today during the visit, and that the Presidents will support them in this track.
