Russia’s aggression against Ukraine has shown that Europe must be ready for modern threats and must, in particular, produce what actually works in today’s battlefield conditions. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this during his address to the Foreign Affairs Council of EU Member States held in Kyiv.

Ukraine’s experience in defense is a real security guarantee for Europe. So I propose that we work together to modernize our defense.

The key topics of discussion were Ukraine’s integration into the European Union, defense cooperation, the restoration of justice, and the negotiation process aimed at achieving a dignified peace.

The leaders discussed in detail the negotiation process aimed at ending Russia’s war against Ukraine and the Ukrainian team’s communication with the American side. The President thanked the Chancellor for his principled position: Ukraine has never been and will never be an obstacle to peace.

They discussed the global consequences of Iran’s blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, in particular its impact on global fuel, gas, and fertilizer markets. The Head of State stressed that the blockade creates new challenges, and that Ukraine is offering partners its unique expertise to help address them.

Over the past four years, the list of Ukrainian cities and villages that Russia has brought war and death to has grown, and this means the need for far more determination and pressure on the Russian leader and on Russia. This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his address to participants of the Bucha Summit 2026. This year, 23 foreign delegations attended the event.
