Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak had a phone call with National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Jonathan Powell, Foreign Policy and Security Advisor to the Federal Chancellor of Germany Günter Sautter, Diplomatic Advisor to the President of France Emmanuel Bonne, and Diplomatic Advisor to the President of the Council of Ministers of Italy Pietro Carini.
The parties discussed diplomatic efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace, as well as preparations for negotiations with the Russian side.
Andriy Yermak emphasized that Russia has still not provided Ukraine with the so-called “memorandum” outlining its vision of steps toward a ceasefire, despite an agreement to do so following the completion of a prisoner exchange. At the same time, the Russian side has already received a document reflecting Ukraine’s position.
The Head of the Presidential Office stressed that for the next meeting to be productive, Ukraine must receive the Russian document before the meeting begins, as well as have clarity on the composition of the Russian delegation.
“Ukraine is ready to attend the next meeting, but we want to engage in a constructive discussion. This means it is important to receive Russia’s draft. There is enough time – four days are sufficient for preparing and sending the documents,” he added.
Andriy Yermak also noted that he had informed U.S. Special Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff of Ukraine’s position. The Head of the Presidential Office stressed the importance of having representatives from both the United States and Europe at the negotiating table.
