About 8,000 People Attended the Free Christmas Performance “Speaking Are Those Who Have Listened to Eternity,” Organized by the Olena Zelenska Foundation

The shows of the free Christmas performance “Speaking Are Those Who Have Listened to Eternity,” organized by the Olena Zelenska Foundation, have concluded on the grounds of the National Conservation Area “Saint Sophia of Kyiv.”

This year, the performances were held for 19 days, and additional dates were scheduled due to high demand. In total, about 8,000 children and adults attended the event.

In addition to public shows, special performances were arranged for families of servicemembers, medical workers, employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as for beneficiaries of NGOs and charitable foundations.

The performance told the story of Rus’-Ukraine through 7,000 ancient graffiti preserved on the walls of the cathedral. Modern 3D technologies, live acting, authentic costumes, choral singing, and light installations were used.

“Such cultural events with a historical component are particularly important for children, especially in wartime. They help better understand the value of Ukrainian culture and realize that without knowledge of one’s own history, it is impossible to build the future – neither for oneself nor for the entire country,” noted Olena Zelenska.

At the beginning of the event, all visitors received headphones with an audio guide voiced by People’s Artist of Ukraine Vasyl Mazur.

The live performance of carols by the Dzvinochok Boys’ Choir and the Vohnyk Girls’ Choir made a special impression on the audience. Each guest also received a festive collection of carols.

In addition, guests could leave their own inscriptions – in analogy to the ancient graffiti on the walls of Saint Sophia of Kyiv – as a symbol of the connection between generations and the continuation of a historical tradition.

“For the second year in a row, this performance unites thousands of people and confirms the public demand for cultural projects with a profound historical component. We are glad that ‘Speaking Are Those Who Have Listened to Eternity’ is gradually becoming a Christmas tradition,” emphasized Victoria Romanova, Director of the Olena Zelenska Foundation.
