Key Priorities of the President’s Diplomatic Work in January

In January, the key priorities of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy were strengthening Ukraine’s energy resilience, reinforcing air defense, securing defense support, continuing work with partners to achieve a dignified peace, and increasing sanctions pressure on Russia.

For the first time in a long while, trilateral meetings of the Ukrainian, American, and Russian delegations took place. Preparations are currently underway for the next meetings, scheduled for February 4–5 in the United Arab Emirates.

The President of Ukraine held 20 meetings: with President of the United States Donald Trump, President of France Emmanuel Macron, President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda, President of Poland Karol Nawrocki, President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel, President of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides, President of Moldova Maia Sandu, President of Switzerland Guy Parmelin, President of the European Council António Costa, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, Deputy Prime Minister of the United Kingdom David Lammy, Secretary of State for Defense of the United Kingdom John Healey, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway Espen Barth Eide, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania Elisa Spiropali, Speaker of the Saeima of Latvia Daiga Mieriņa, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Kristalina Georgieva, envoys of the President of the United States Steven Witkoff and Jared Kushner, Archbishop of Nova Justiniana and All Cyprus, Primate of the Church of Cyprus, His Beatitude Georgios, national security advisors of the member states of the Coalition of the Willing, Minister of Health of Lithuania Marija Jakubauskienė and Lithuanian volunteers, and leader of the Belarusian democratic forces Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya.

There were 14 phone calls: with President of France Emmanuel Macron, President of Finland Alexander Stubb, President of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides, President of Romania Nicușor Dan, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Keir Starmer, Federal Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz, Prime Minister of Norway Jonas Gahr Støre, Prime Minister of the Netherlands Dick Schoof, Prime Minister of Australia Anthony Albanese, Federal Chancellor of Austria Christian Stocker, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, and U.S. Senators Lindsey Graham and Richard Blumenthal.

In particular, following their conversation, the leaders of Ukraine and France agreed on additional deliveries of French aircraft, air defense missiles, and aerial bombs to Ukraine.

The Head of State made four visits: to France, Cyprus, Switzerland, and Lithuania.

In Paris, a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing took place. As a result, a joint declaration of all Coalition member states was signed, as well as a trilateral declaration by France, the United Kingdom, and Ukraine on the deployment of a Multinational Force.

The ceremony marking the start of Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union was held in Nicosia. Among its priorities is Ukraine's accession to the European Union.

In Davos, the Presidents of Ukraine and the United States held a meeting. Volodymyr Zelenskyy also addressed participants during a special session of the World Economic Forum.

In Vilnius, an important meeting was held in the Lublin Triangle format: Ukraine, Lithuania, and Poland. In Lithuania, the Head of State also met with Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, leader of the Belarusian democratic forces.

International events and meetings included the World Economic Forum in Davos, a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, the ceremony marking the start of Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union, a panel session of the International Advisory Council for Ukraine’s Recovery, and the commemoration of the participants of the January Uprising of 1863–1864.

Assistance packages focused on strengthening air defense and providing energy support.

Norway – missiles for NASAMS air defense systems.

Finland – the 31st military assistance package worth €98 million.

The United States – more than $400 million for humanitarian projects to support Ukrainians this winter.

Norway – $400 million, including funding for Ukraine’s energy support.

The United Kingdom – nearly €23 million for the Ukraine Energy Support Fund.

The European Union – around 450 generators.

Germany – €60 million and additional equipment.

Italy – €10 million for the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, and €50 million allocated in the 2026 budget to assist Ukraine’s energy sector. 78 industrial boilers with a total capacity of 116.5 MW have already been delivered to Ukraine.

The Netherlands – an additional €23 million for Ukraine’s energy sector.

Denmark – €20 million for energy support to Ukraine.

France – more than 100 generators.

Japan – 140 generators, 60 transformers, and two cogeneration units.

Lithuania – 90 generators.

Sanctions measures included sanctions against 95 individuals and 70 legal entities linked to servicing Russia’s state defense order, the activities of its defense-industrial complex, and the spread of Russian propaganda.
