On Border Guard Day, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with servicemembers of the State Border Guard Service, congratulated them on their professional holiday, presented state awards, and bestowed upon SBGS units the ribbons of the honorary distinction “For Courage and Valor.”

Russia has abducted thousands of Ukrainian children and is attempting to strip them of their national identity, which is why it is crucial to bring them home as quickly as possible, before the occupiers succeed in reshaping their minds. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this during his address to participants of the Civil Society and Expert Day.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed a decree enacting a decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine to impose sanctions on Belarusian enterprises for assisting Russia in its armed aggression against Ukraine, as well as on individuals close to Belarus’s self-proclaimed president, Aleksandr Lukashenko.

The first sanctions package targets 20 individuals and four legal entities engaged in transferring Ukrainian children from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and indoctrinating them with Russian ideology. The second sanctions list includes 23 vessels used by Russia to export oil and petroleum products.

Decades after the Chornobyl disaster, Russia has turned the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant into a territory of war, and partner countries must constrain its force for the sake of global security. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this at the Chornobyl International Conference on Nuclear Safety and Recovery.

The Head of State thanked the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for its support of Ukraine and noted Odile Renaud-Basso’s participation in the Chornobyl International Conference on Nuclear Safety and Recovery.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented state awards to the liquidators of the accident at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant and those who addressed the consequences of last year’s Russian drone strike on the confinement, as well as to plant personnel who ensured its operation during the occupation in 2022.

​The heads of state placed memorial candles at the monument to the Heroes of Chornobyl, located at the plant near the power unit where the explosion occurred in 1986.

At the National Chornobyl Museum, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi.

On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Chornobyl disaster, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, together with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, took part in the opening of a new permanent exhibition at the National Chornobyl Museum: “Chornobyl: People and Meanings.”
