Office of the President Launches Reform to Increase the Number of Servicemembers and Veterans Among Staff

2 September 2025 - 22:35

The Office of the President of Ukraine has begun implementing a reform aimed at increasing the number of servicemembers and veterans working across all departments. The announcement was made by Head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak.

Next week, Vita Tytarenko – a servicemember, scholar, and the wife and sister of heroes who gave their lives for Ukraine – will join the Office of the President. She will oversee projects in the fields of culture, history, and religion, and will also collaborate with the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance.

Vita Tytarenko was born in Lebedyn, Sumy region. She earned degrees in pedagogy and philosophy, and defended her Candidate and Doctoral dissertations in religious studies. She has taught at higher education institutions in Kyiv and worked at the Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

In 2014, her husband, Oleksii Tytarenko, volunteered for the front and later worked as an analyst at the Presidential Administration and the Office of the President. In 2022, Vita and Oleksii Tytarenko both joined the military. Sadly, Oleksii was killed in action near Bakhmut. Six months later, Vita lost her brother, Eduard, who was killed near Vuhledar. Both heroes were awarded the Order “For Courage.”

Vita Tytarenko continued her service in the Security and Defense Forces: from the Donetsk region to the headquarters of the Territorial Defense Forces Command. She also provided psychological support to warriors and operated drones.

This week, two more individuals will join the President’s Office as part of the reform.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy endorsed the proposal to reform the Office late last month. The reform aims to ensure that a significant number of employees at the Office of the President are servicemembers with combat experience and war veterans.
