Austria is among the top investors in Ukraine and ranks sixth among the countries that invest in the development of our economy. It was stated by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko during the joint press conference with Federal President of the Republic of Austria Alexander Van der Bellen, which was held following the bilateral negotiations.
“I would like to emphasize that there are some symbolic things: the largest producer of skis in Europe - Fischer company produces them in the Ukrainian Mukachevo, one of the largest producers of automotive rolled products - Voestalpine AG company produces them from Ukrainian raw materials. Austria ranks sixth in terms of investment among all the countries,” the Head of State emphasized.
He noted that the negotiations “were fruitful and useful” and informed that the parties had discussed the expansion of economic cooperation.
For this purpose, the parties discussed the issue of holding the Ukrainian-Austrian business forum during the visit of the Federal President of Austria to Ukraine, which should take place in the near future, as stated by Petro Poroshenko.
“We agreed to try to organize a business forum, so that Austrian investors can see the attractiveness of the investments in Ukraine, the improvements in the investment climate, the comfort of investors with VAT refunds, with non-interference by security officials, with the transparency of the energy market and with many other things that have changed dramatically in recent years and months,” the President stressed.
He added that the trade turnover between the two countries had increased by 17% over the past year.
The Presidents expressed content with the dynamics of development of bilateral relations in the economic, political, humanitarian and other directions.
