President instructed the border guards to increase the requirements for registration of citizens of Russia

During the meeting on the measures to implement the Decree and the law on the establishment of martial law headed by President Petro Poroshenko, Head of the State Border Service of Ukraine Petro Tsygykal informed of the measures taken by the State Border Service as regards the introduction of martial law.

"The service is switched to the first level of full combat readiness. The border is protected by the robust security regime," Head of the State Border Service of Ukraine informed.

According to him, the main efforts were aimed at the effective use of reserves and increased stuffing, deployment of the enlarged units on the border with the Russian Federation and the administrative boundary with the temporarily occupied Crimea. Also, border units are reinforced by weapons and armored vehicles. There is an increase in engineering and fortification facilities, an increased monitoring of the border situation, operational and counter-intelligence activities were being activated.

He also reported on the intensifying activities in the area of the JFO.

"At checkpoints, reinforced control measures are being implemented. Today, the entry of foreigners, especially citizens of the Russian Federation, is limited. Citizens of the Russian Federation aged from 16 to 60 years old are not allowed to pass, male persons," Petro Tsygykal noted.

At the same time, the Head of the State Border Service of Ukraine stressed that no restrictions on the border would be imposed on the citizens of Ukraine.

"Do I understand correctly that these are measures that prevent the Russian Federation from forming units of private armies here, that are in fact members of the armed forces of the Russian Federation, and do not allow them to carry out operations, that they were trying to conduct in 2014?" the Head of State asked and received an affirmative answer.

The President also emphasized the importance of increasing the requirements for registration, especially in the regions where martial law was imposed, as regards citizens of the Russian Federation. "Please submit proposals for my approval within 24 hours," he instructed.
