President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held a meeting with Premier of Ontario Kathleen Wynne in the course of the working visit to Canada.
The Head of State noted an important role of Ukrainians in facilitating the development of Canada. In her turn, Premier Kathleen Wynne noted that the Ukrainian community plays an important role for Ontario as well, because they make up 8% of the province's population.
Kathleen Wynne told about the process of informing the population of the province about the Holodomor in Ukraine. Petro Poroshenko told about the intentions of the community of Ontario to open a monument to the Holodomor victims next year. Earlier, Ontario recognized Holodomor as genocide of Ukrainians.
The parties agreed to establish close cooperation on inclusive education. According to Premier Wynne, Ontario, just as Canada, is considered a world leader in the introduction of the inclusive education standards.
The President invited the telemedicine experts from Ontario to visit Ukraine.
Petro Poroshenko and Kathleen Wynne discussed the enhancement of economic cooperation between Ontario and Ukrainian regions. Also, the parties noted great opportunities of the two countries in the IT sphere.
