In Toronto, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with prominent Canadian entrepreneur and philanthropist of Ukrainian descent James Temerty.
The Head of State thanked James Temerty for his many years of work for Ukraine and for his tangible support of important humanitarian initiatives aimed at addressing the most pressing challenges facing Ukrainians.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy highlighted the role of the Ukrainian community in strengthening international solidarity with Ukraine and increasing the amount of assistance provided to our country.
The President spoke about the situation on the battlefield and the consequences of Russia’s daily attacks.
Since the start of the full-scale war, James Temerty has funded a program for students and faculty from Ukraine in Toronto, supported the Olena Zelenska Foundation by providing $500,000 for generators for Ukrainian hospitals, educational institutions, and critical infrastructure, as well as assistance for residents of the liberated areas of the Kharkiv region. He also donated $1 million toward rebuilding a children’s creative and sports center destroyed in Borodyanka, Kyiv region.
On August 20, 2025, Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented James Temerty with the National Legend of Ukraine award.
