President of Ukraine

Speeches

Oil exports are the foundation of Russia’s arrogance, and if sanctions are maintained and strengthened, Russia will suffer significant losses. They could amount to at least 50 billion dollars next year, which is a strong argument for Russia to develop a motive to end this war.

We continue our sanctions work – we are preparing new sanctions, in particular against targets in Russia’s military production and their propaganda. We must gradually block all global contacts for every Russian entity working for the war. The decrees will be issued soon.

We are working practically on a daily basis on air defense as well, engaging with every partner that can help with air defense systems and also with missiles.

Protection against such a threat can only be a collective effort – no nation in the world should have to stand alone against it. And during this week, we have moved even closer to the decisions we need.

Today all the partners confirmed that next year they will continue to support Ukraine – our country, our resilience – especially the financial support, which is crucial.

We must create in Russia a will to negotiate. And I’m ready to meet in any meaningful format, and the current line of contact could be the starting point of negotiations, real negotiations.

A meeting with leaders in London has already taken place – this is the third positive development for Ukraine in just a few days. More sanctions against Russia are coming – and they will be aligned with the decision of the United States.

Please be flexible with our air defense needs – in a time of war, saving lives must be the top priority. And support with air defense must truly be a common European effort – when everyone in Europe helps one, all of Europe wins.

Today, we are opening an entirely new and truly meaningful chapter in our relations between Ukraine and Sweden. And more broadly, this also concerns overall security relations in Europe.

We held a meeting with the President of the United States, and we agreed to try to organize the dialogue exactly like that – along the current front line.
