President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy made an entry in the condolence book at the residence of the Ambassador of Norway to Ukraine, expressing condolences on behalf of Ukraine over the passing of King Harald V of Norway.
The Head of State noted that throughout his reign, His Majesty earned the deepest respect and affection of the Norwegian people and admiration far beyond Norway.
“Ukraine will always remember with profound gratitude His Majesty’s unwavering support and sincere solidarity with the Ukrainian people during the darkest days of Russian aggression. His moral leadership and compassion were a source of strength and will remain an integral part of the friendship between our two peoples,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote.
The President had an audience with King Harald V, as well as with members of the Royal Family – Queen Sonja, Crown Prince Haakon, and Crown Princess Mette-Marit – on December 13, 2023, during his official visit to Norway. The Head of State also met with Crown Prince Haakon, who became the new King of Norway, Haakon VIII, on September 1, on May 20 last year and April 15 this year. Over this time, Ukraine has built strong relations with the Royal Family. Our country will always be grateful for all the support and assistance.
Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Norway has provided Ukraine with $22.5 billion in assistance and has already announced more than $9 billion for 2027. Norway is also the largest contributor among the countries participating in PURL. Overall, Norway has contributed more than $1.3 billion to the initiative.
