Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Ihor Brusylо held a meeting with New Zealand’s Minister of Defense, Minister for Digitizing Government, Public Service, and Space, Attorney General Judith Collins, and Chief of the New Zealand Defense Force Tony Davies.
“Geographical borders do not limit modern security threats. What is happening in Ukraine directly affects stability worldwide, including in the Indo-Pacific region,” emphasized Ihor Brusylо.
He provided detailed information on the efforts of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Ukraine’s partners to achieve real peace and security guarantees. Today, the leaders of the Coalition of the Willing countries will hold their next meeting. New Zealand is part of the Coalition and is ready to contribute to ensuring security.
The discussion also covered the needs of Ukrainian defenders, with particular attention to increasing drone production, especially in light of intensified Russian strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
Judith Collins reaffirmed that the security of the Euro-Atlantic area and that of the Indo-Pacific region are closely linked, and that the unity of partners will determine their reliability. According to the Minister, this is clearly demonstrated by the involvement of North Korean military personnel in combat operations against Ukraine.
The meeting also addressed the importance of using frozen Russian assets for Ukraine’s recovery and strengthening economic sanction pressure – including through the introduction of secondary sanctions – to compel Russia toward peace.
Additionally, they discussed the need to build shelters in Ukrainian schools, New Zealand’s potential involvement in implementing relevant projects, and the formalization of long-term support.
