President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, together with Prime Minister of Norway Jonas Gahr Støre, held a meeting in Oslo with executives from defense companies in partner countries.
The meeting was attended by executives from Fire Point, Kongsberg, Weibel, Saab, Diehl Defence, HENSOLDT, Thales, Safran, Sener, and Leonardo. Norway’s ministers of defense, foreign affairs, and finance also took part.
The main topic of discussion was work on the FREYJA anti-ballistic missile program. During the meeting, the Ukrainian side presented the results achieved so far and coordinated the next steps for implementing the initiative. In particular, the participants agreed on what needs to be done over the next few months at the level of partner countries’ leaders and defense company executives.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine is capable of developing and manufacturing an interceptor missile and a launcher, and stressed the importance of partners’ readiness to make the necessary contributions to the program. Our country is counting on the first practical results.
The President also discussed with representatives of the defense companies what Ukraine needs to strengthen its air defense – a matter of critical importance for our country right now.
The first meeting dedicated to implementing the FREYJA anti-ballistic missile program took place in Paris on July 13 of this year. It brought together heads of state and government, defense ministers, national security advisors, and defense company executives. Following the meeting, the leaders signed the Joint Declaration on the Establishment of the Integrated Anti-Ballistic Missile Coalition. The Coalition’s founding members are Ukraine, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy has repeatedly emphasized that FREYJA could become a shared European system providing integrated protection against aerial threats. In August, the Head of State set the goal of achieving concrete results by late 2026 or early 2027.
