Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Olena Zelenska Met with Defenders Who Lost Their Vision and Are Undergoing an Adaptation Course

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, together with First Lady Olena Zelenska, met in Kyiv with defenders who have lost their vision and are undergoing rehabilitation and adaptation at the Trinity Hub Center for Spatial Orientation and Mobility Training.

This Kyiv-based organization became the first partner of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine in implementing a project to support veterans who have partially or completely lost their vision.

The Head of State spoke with veterans with visual impairments and total vision loss who have completed training and rehabilitation at the center. The President presented them with certificates marking the completion of their adaptation course.

The defenders sustained injuries while defending Ukraine in the Sumy, Kharkiv, Kupyansk, and Donetsk sectors. Through the program, they have mastered daily living skills and spatial orientation, learned to use Braille, mobile phones, and computer technology.

“First of all, I want to thank all the fighters for what you have done. Without sparing your own lives, you defended our state. Of course, the war is still ongoing, but it will certainly end. And in order to prevent our country from being captured, a great number of brave people have fulfilled their duty and defended our sovereignty,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.

The President also expressed gratitude to the institution and everyone who returns Ukrainian defenders to a full life.

Trinity Hub staff briefed the Head of State and the First Lady on the center’s main areas of work and demonstrated how Braille instruction, motor and recovery therapy, computer training, and restoration of daily living skills take place. The facility uses ten types of sports in its rehabilitation program – an innovative approach in Ukraine.
