President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone call with Taoiseach of Ireland Micheál Martin to coordinate the next steps.
Micheál Martin expressed solidarity with Ukrainians and condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones as a result of Russian attacks.
The President thanked Ireland and Micheál Martin personally for supporting Ukraine and for assisting with the arrangement of school shelters. Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukrainian children went to school today, and thanks to such support, even more students will be able to study offline and stay safe.
The leaders also discussed the possibility of providing funding to ensure free meals for students and agreed to explore potential solutions.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Micheál Martin paid special attention to efforts to develop security guarantees and preparations for Thursday’s meeting of the Coalition of the Willing. The Taoiseach of Ireland confirmed that his country is ready to contribute to ensuring Ukraine’s security.
The leaders share a common vision: the need to increase pressure on Russia, including through the introduction of secondary sanctions. It is important to do everything possible to make Moscow finally feel that this war is truly costly for them. Only then will the Russians start thinking about how to end what they themselves started.
The Taoiseach of Ireland also expressed support for Ukraine on its path to European Union membership. Both sides agree that Ukraine and Moldova must advance together in the negotiation process toward joining the EU.
The leaders coordinated their next steps and agreed to meet in person in the near future.
