President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen.
The Head of State expressed gratitude for the statement by the Nordic and Baltic countries in support of an immediate and unconditional ceasefire for at least 30 days, as well as direct negotiations between Ukraine and Russia at the highest level.
The President noted that although Vladimir Putin did not come to Türkiye and instead sent a low-level delegation, Ukraine nevertheless decided to use this opportunity for negotiations.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke about the meeting in Istanbul, during which Ukraine's priority was to establish an unconditional ceasefire in the air, at sea, and on land.
The leaders also discussed the coordination of diplomatic efforts with the United States and European partners, as well as increasing pressure on Russia should it remain unconstructive in the negotiation process.
Military support and continued direct investment in Ukraine’s defense industry were among other key topics of discussion. Denmark is preparing its 26th package of military assistance for Ukraine.
They also discussed expectations regarding Denmark’s upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which will begin on July 1. Ukraine is counting on support for its European integration.
