President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a phone call with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer.
The Head of State thanked the United Kingdom for its leadership during the latest meeting in the Ramstein format and for the important outcomes in supporting Ukraine.
The President also welcomed the UK’s new sanctions against Russia, aimed at restricting revenues from oil sales.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy informed the Prime Minister about yesterday’s meeting with the Russian side in Istanbul, which resulted in an agreement on a new prisoner exchange. During the talks, the Ukrainian delegation once again emphasized the need for a ceasefire and proposed holding a leaders’ meeting by the end of August.
The President and the Prime Minister discussed diplomatic efforts with partners in Europe and the United States to strengthen security.
The Head of State also briefed the Prime Minister on the preparation of a bill aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s law enforcement system and ensuring the independence and effectiveness of its anti-corruption infrastructure. Keir Starmer offered to involve experts who could contribute to long-term cooperation. The leaders agreed to stay in contact on this issue. They share a common vision on the need to defend the value of a normal life, counter any Russian influence or interference, and do everything to make Europe stronger.
