President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented state awards to the liquidators of the accident at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant and those who addressed the consequences of last year’s Russian drone strike on the confinement, as well as to plant personnel who ensured its operation during the occupation in 2022.

​The heads of state placed memorial candles at the monument to the Heroes of Chornobyl, located at the plant near the power unit where the explosion occurred in 1986.

At the National Chornobyl Museum, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi.

On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Chornobyl disaster, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, together with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, took part in the opening of a new permanent exhibition at the National Chornobyl Museum: “Chornobyl: People and Meanings.”

“Both of our states deserve to be part of a strong, united Europe. Ukraine has always defended Moldova’s right to be part of the European Union, and in the past, we took significant steps to ensure that both of our countries obtained candidate status. We are now working to ensure that all clusters are opened as soon as possible and that EU membership becomes our shared success – for Ukraine, Moldova, and the entire European Union,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted.

Today, we have signed six documents. Our teams will certainly share the details later. They cover various areas. Security is the top priority today – the defense-industrial complex.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held meetings with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in Gabala, both in a one-on-one and in an expanded format, during which they discussed cooperation in the fields of security, energy, and humanitarian support. This is the Head of State’s first visit to Azerbaijan and the seventh meeting between the leaders in more than four years.

The Head of State was briefed on the initial results of their work. Ukrainian experts reported that they are working within an international defense cooperation program initiated by Ukraine. They are providing expertise on protecting critical and civilian infrastructure from air attacks.

The President stressed that Ukraine is ready to share its experience and expertise for mutually beneficial cooperation with Saudi Arabia in protecting lives.
