The January Uprising was an uprising of the Ukrainian, Polish, Lithuanian, and Belarusian peoples against the Russian Empire and oppression. It began on January 22, 1863, and lasted until June 1864. Its motto was: “For our freedom and yours.”

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and First Lady Olena Zelenska took part in a religious service dedicated to honoring those who were killed during the January Uprising of 1863–1864. The service was held at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Stanislaus and St. Ladislaus. The Presidents and First Ladies of Lithuania and Poland also took part.

European politicians should value the fact that they represent free and independent states, rather than having to lead uprisings against empires and occupiers today. It is too early for Europe to relax while Russia’s war machine is still running, and while dictators around Europe are not weakening. They all look at Europe – at us – as prey.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy began a working visit to Lithuania with a meeting with President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda.

On the occasion of the Day of Ukraine’s Foreign Intelligence, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated intelligence officers on their professional holiday, conferred senior military ranks, and presented the Orders of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, II and III class, and of Danylo Halytskyi, as well as the medals “For Military Service to Ukraine.”

On the eve of International Day of Education, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy took part in the Second National Forum of Talented Youth.

Today has been full of tasks, including for our diplomatic team. Ukrainian representatives report to me almost every hour – they are currently in the UAE, where a conversation took place today involving the Ukrainian, American, and Russian delegations.

Ukraine is ready to help Europe become a true power, guarantee peace, and prevent destruction. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this during a special session of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

The Head of State informed him about his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in Davos, as well as about diplomatic plans for further negotiations and ongoing work on documents.

We should not degrade ourselves to secondary roles – not when we have a chance to be a great power together. We should not accept that Europe is just a "salad" of small and middle powers, seasoned with enemies of Europe. When united, we are truly invincible. And Europe can and must be a global force. Not one that reacts late, but one that defines the future.
