During a meeting with Ukrainian and foreign journalists, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy outlined steps to strengthen the protection of Ukraine’s skies against Russian aerial terror.
“About one-third of the Shahed drones are being shot down by mobile fire groups. They hardly rely on machine guns anymore. They are working with different weapons. We have begun using interceptors. You should know that we have been working on this for a long time,” the President said.
The Head of State informed journalists that four companies in Ukraine manufacture interceptor drones, with two of them already very successful in this area. According to him, during the latest Russian attack, Ukrainian interceptors have proven their effectiveness and shot down dozens of Russian drones.
Germany is ready to finance their production; there are corresponding agreements with Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz. Production will also be supported by Canada – this was discussed during a meeting with Prime Minister Mark Carney on the sidelines of the G7 Summit.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine has already contracted for more artillery and drones this year than in any previous year of the war.
Additionally, the Build with Ukraine program was launched, and agreements will be concluded this summer to begin exporting our technologies abroad by opening production lines in European countries.
“And we will provide relevant technologies and manufacture weapons for ourselves and for them in their countries,” the President stated.
