The foreign policy work of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in May focused on bringing a dignified peace closer, strengthening Ukraine’s air defense amid intensified Russian attacks – in particular through additional missile supplies and the reinforcement of combat aviation – forming an anti-ballistic coalition to protect Ukraine and all of Europe from aerial threats, securing contributions to the PURL initiative, concluding new Drone Deals with partners, and bringing Ukrainians back from Russian captivity.

“In the second half of last year, decisions were introduced that ultimately led to a significant strengthening of our frontline positions,” the Head of State noted.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed two decrees enacting decisions of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine on synchronizing sanctions with decisions adopted by the European Union.

On behalf of all Ukrainians, the Head of State expressed support for Romania and wished a speedy recovery to those injured in last night’s Russian drone strike on a residential building in Galați.

The Chancellor expressed his condolences over the ongoing Russian aerial attacks. The President thanked him for his support and informed him about our intelligence data indicating that the Russians are preparing a new massive strike against Ukrainian cities and communities.

At the military base in Uppsala, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Prime Minister of Sweden Ulf Kristersson, during which important agreements were reached on the delivery of Gripen fighter jets.
